CDL TRAINING
In order for you to drive a commercial vehicle, you will need CDL training to prepare for the test. E.T.S.O.T offers competitive rates for effective instructions that you will need to pass your test and begin your truck driving career.
WHAT WILL MY DAY-TO-DAY CONSIST OF DURING MY FOUR-TO-SIX-WEEK COURSE?
Your CDL training can be completed within 4-6 weeks depending on your availability. Your school hours will be divided between the following:
CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION
Your classroom teachings will take up a quarter of your four-to-six-week course. During this timeframe, we will teach you the rules and regulations of CDL truck driving as well as all information needed to pass the exam with flying colors.
BEHIND THE WHEEL TRAINING
What separates a skilled driver from an unskilled driver is experience. Your behind the wheel training will consist of practice driving with one of our highly experienced trainers in our yard as well as local roads, highways, and interstate routes which will prepare you for your exam. Also, you will be provided plenty of hours to perfect your driving technique.
CDL- A: TRACTOR TRAILER TRAINING 160 HOURS (4-6 WEEKS)
This program is highly recommended because it provides you with more career opportunities after graduation. This course prepares you to obtain your CDL A license and allows you to operate all classes of commercial motor vehicles.
During your first week of this CDL A program, you will be in the classroom or online (your choice) gaining the knowledge you need to pass the written permit test. Then, you will operate a semi-tractor under supervision to learn about vehicle inspections and practice making maneuvers in a secured lot. After that, you will be accompanied with one of our highly experienced trainers to drive a semi-tractor on the roadway. While operating on the roadway, you will be able to put all the knowledge you learned in class on the road and experience traffic scenarios.
CDL-B: STRAIGHT TRUCK TRAINING 120 HOURS (4-6 WEEKS)
In this program, you will learn how to operate a straight truck, box truck and/or dump trucks. Similar to the CDL-A program routine, you will be in the classroom learning the basics of how to operate these vehicles and prepare you for the written permit test. Then, you will learn how to inspect the vehicle under supervision and practice making maneuvers in a secured lot. After that, you will go out on the road with one of our highly experienced trainers. Once you complete this course, you will have the knowledge needed to pass the road test.
CDL REFRESHER COURSES (HOURS VARY)
This course is arranged for those professional drivers who already possess a CDL but have not driven for six months or more. If you are interested in going back into the trucking world, E.T.S.O.T offers refresher courses which will allow you to touchup on your skills when operating a commercial motor vehicle. In this program, you will be conducting pre-trip inspections and practicing your maneuvers with one of our highly experienced trainers. Afterwards, you and one of our trainers will be on the road putting your skillset to the test.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years old (21 for interstate driving).
Must have a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
Must be able to speak, read, and write English well enough to do your job and take the test per federal testing guidelines.
Must pass a motor carrier safety physical examination and drug test.
OUR EQUIPMENT:
We have multiple up to date automatic and manual Mack and Volvo units similar to the vehicles you will operate at your future workplace. You will be able to practice maneuvers in our dry vans to better prepare yourself for the vehicles you will be driving at your job.
OUR CLASSROOM:
